PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve lost-impact prevention in a simple structure. SOLUTION: Front and rear O-rings 30, 31 are externally mounted on a striker 19 reciprocating in a piston cylinder 17. The rear O-ring 30 is used for sealing an air chamber 18 while the front O-ring 31 is put in slide contact with the inner periphery of the piston cylinder 17 at all times during normal impact action and escaped frontward from the piston cylinder 17 with the forward movement of the striker 19 and put in contact with the front end of the piston cylinder 17 when a bit 13 is not mounted on a tool holder 6, preventing the backward movement of the striker 19.
