PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a runner with a sliding push button for a safety umbrella. SOLUTION: A pushing button 4 comprises a plunger 41 which stays and can slide in a first slot 33 which is formed approximately orthogonal against a longer handle axis line X in the longitudinal direction of an umbrella main shaft 1 with a runner 3, and an inside face which touches a spring catch 5 usually protruding outwards elastically from a main shaft to hold the runner when the umbrella is open, and a pair of projections which are formed symmetrically on the sides facing the plunger and can slide and connect to a pair of second slots 35 which are pierced symmetrically in the right and left sides facing to the first slot formed approximately orthogonal against the longer handle axis line, and when the pushing button is pressed to detach the spring catch from the runner to open an umbrella, the safety umbrella with a pushing button can make a stable slide inside the first and second slot formed in the runner extremely like a ergonomics motion.
