Fused tetracyclic benzodiazepines of the formula (I): <IMAGE> (I) where R1 is an acyclic amine or cyclic amine such as 1-piperidine, 4-morpholine or 1-piperazine and R2 is H or a substituent as defined herein as useful as antiallergins. Also, methods for their synthesis, intermediate used in such synthesis, methods for use as medicaments and pharmaceutical compositions.
