PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain combustion from being unstable more than a second combustion due to the shortage of oxygen content in a first combustion. SOLUTION: The shortage of oxygen content, which is caused by the first combustion, is compensated by forming peroxide by performing selective switching between the first combustion that generates little soot due to a larger quantity of the EGR gas supplied into a combustion chamber 5 than the quantity of EGR gas when the largest quantity of soot is produced and the second combustion that supplies a smaller quantity of soot into the combustion chamber 5 than the quantity of EGR gas when the largest quantity of soot is produced, and by conducting fuel injecting fuel at another time in addition to the main fuel injection to a position near the compression top dead center when the first combustion is conducted. |
