PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which can automatically find a proper average vehicle speed. SOLUTION: The kind of a road on which an own vehicle exists is judged on the basis of the position of the vehicle and road data, and whether the kind of the road is changed or not is judged (S50). The kind of the road refers to two kinds, i.e., a general road and an expressway, and the kind of the road is judged on the basis of a table in which a correspondence relationship between the kind of a link and the kind of the road is stored on the basis of the kind of the link in which the vehicle exists. When the kind of the road is not changed (S50: NO), the movement distance of the vehicle is integrated (S120) until the movement distance exceeds a prescribed distance for judgment (S60: NO). When the distance for judgment is run (S60: YES), an instantaneous vehicle-speed value Va is calculated (S70). By using the instantaneous vehicle-speed value which is obtained for each kind of the road, an average vehicle speed V (n) is calculated (S90, S100). |
