摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve timing mechanism of an engine capable of reducing the size of an engine by disposing VVTs of the intake side and exhaust side in a spatially compact manner, and reducing load applied to a journal bearing part due to the moment of overhang. SOLUTION: In this variable timing mechanism of the engine having an intake cam shaft 6 and an exhaust cam shaft 7, VVTs 10, 11 are mounted on the end parts of the respective cam shafts, each VVT is formed by a rotating shaft part 51 and a cylindrical body part 52 at the end part thereof, advance side and lag side oil pressure chambers 38, 39 are provided in the body part, rotation transmitting means 33, 34, 35 are provided between both VVTs, and a rotating driving means 31 for receiving the rotational driving force from a crankshaft is mounted on one VVT 10. In this mechanism, both VVTs 10, 11 are disposed so that the rotating driving means 31 of one VVT 10 and the body part 52 of the other VVT 11 overlap each other, seen from the axial directions of the respective cam shafts 6, 7.
