PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise generated in a reproducing signal just after recording operation in a thin film magnetic head and to suppress an increase of time and costs needed for the manufacture of the magnetic head. SOLUTION: The thin film magnetic head is provided with a reproducing head and a recording head. The reproducing head and the recording head are disposed so that an upper shielding layer 8 of the reproducing head and a lower magnetic pole layer 10 of the recording head are opposed to each other. A magnetism shielding layer 9 is provided between the upper shielding layer 8 and the lower magnetic pole layer 10. A non-magnetic metal material which can be formed by plating, especially platinum, is used as the material of the magnetism shielding layer 9. The upper shielding layer 8, the magnetism shielding layer 9 and the lower magnetic pole layer 10 are continuously formed by a plating method. |
