PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographic sensitive material and a heat developable photosensitive material each having high sensitivity, giving an image of a high density and contrasty gradation and excellent in black spot resistance and shelf stability, and to provide an image forming method. SOLUTION: The heat developable photosensitive material contains an organic silver salt, photosensitive silver halide, a reducing agent and a compound of formula (3) [where R31 and R32 are each H or a monovalent substituent; L31 is a divalent combining group; Z31 is a group of atoms forming a ring; and Z32 is a group of atoms forming a ring together with L31 and C]. In the image forming method, the heat developable photosensitive material is imagewise exposed and heat-developed at a temp. of 80-250 deg.C.
