The present invention relates to a crystal and a three-dimensional structure for the endoplasmic reticulum alpha 1,2-mannosidase enzyme family, useful for the identification of structural determinants responsible for the specificity of the family enzymes and for the development of specific inhibitors to stabilize abnormal glycoproteins in genetic diseases such as cystic fibrosis and pulmonary emphysema.
