METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ACCEPTING AND CONVEYING A MESSAGE FROM A TELEPHONE TO A RADIO-PAGING SYSTEM

A local telephone exchange determines the remote database at a service control point for a paging subscriber. The exchange launches a control message to the service control point when a call is dialed for the subscriber. The service control point responds to the local exchange after retrieving information from the database and computing a sequence of messages instructing the switching service point to collect additional digits dialed by the caller. Collected information is sent to the service control point over the control network for processing. The service control point processes the information sent using information from the database and delivers a paging message to a paging system terminal.
