A multi-colored lens assembly (80) is produced in a multi-station injection molding apparatus (Fig 1-3) having non-indexing ejector halves (10,11,13) and indexing cover halves (12). Material is shot on an unexposed illumination side of the lens assembly (80) from valve gated nozzle drops (32) contained in the non-indexing ejector halves (10,11,13) thereby producing a viewing side of the lens assembly (80) free of surface blemishes and surface stress defects.
