PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain glass paste for silver coating capable of preventing yellowing, to provide a method for producing the glass paste and to obtain a constitution with a silver coated glass film. SOLUTION: When a mixed raw material comprising a glass raw material and an additive such as Ni, Cu, etc., is heat-treated at a high temperature of about 1,000 to 1,500( deg.C), glass comprising the additive or its reduction product (Ni or Cu) constituting a part of a composition is formed and ground to give glass powder useful for preparing a thick film insulating paste. Consequently, since Cu, Ni, etc., are previously contained in the glass powder so as to constitute a part of the composition, the thick film insulating paste is applied to the inside of a front plate and baked to give a dielectric substance layer containing Cu or Ni n the texture. The yellowing of the dielectric substance layer is prevented even if a silver electrode is coated with the dielectric substance layer.
