Continuous process to prepare silicone compositions

High levels of fumed silica, processing fluid and high molecular weight silicone polymer are continuously compounded into a homogeneous silica filled heat-vulcanizable silicone composition by mixing filler and high viscosity silicone polymer continuously in a first co-rotating intermeshing double screw extruder (112) and continuously compounding the filler and silicone polymer mixture from the first extruder in a second extruder (114) comprising a single shaft reciprocating extruder.
