The frame for a roller skate or similar couplable with a shoe or boot has a lowermost part for support of at least two in-line connection with the shoe or boot. The hinged connection has a rod assembly with at least one force-transmitting rod (7) and a setback mechanism (15), so that the uppermost part is hingeable and translatable in a plane at least approximately through the wheels. The force-transmitting rod engages on the lowermost part of the frame at a position (9), which at least approximately coincident with or lower than the level of the wheel axles (4). The rod assembly comprises at least one foremost and one rearmost rod (7,8) between the lowermost and uppermost parts.
