PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve buffering by improving the structure of the buffering device of a shoe sole. SOLUTION: The buffering device of a shoe sole is provided with a lower layer 2 and an upper layer 3 made of elastomer. Each of the lower layer 2 and the upper layer 3 has an under surface 20, 30 and a top surface 21, 31. The top surface 21 of the lower layer 2 and the under surface 30 of the upper layer 3 are formed to have a waved cross section. Each of wave forms has a plurality of apexes 22, 32, troughs 23, 33 and slopes 24, 34 between the apexes 22, 32 and the troughs 23, 33. The waved upper surface 21 and the under surface 30 are engaged with each other and the two surfaces 21, 30 engaging with each other contact with each other at the slopes 24, 34 of those surfaces 21, 30. The two surfaces 24, 34 engaging with each other are separated from each other at least at either the apexes 22, 32 or the troughs 23, 33 and an air gap is formed in the separated portion.
