A shredding apparatus is assembled in a two part modular form. One part comprises a power means (10) intended to be stationary and the other part comprising a first cutting chamber (12) intended to be removable. A second cutting chamber (12A), identical with the first, is provided to be used alternately with the first cutting chamber (12). The power means is mounted on a support frame (15) and has a gearbox to one side of which two electric motors (16) are mounted, and to the opposite side of which two side-by-side stub drive shafts (18) extend, each having a coupling plate (20). The cutting chamber (12) comprises a support framework (22) carrying two opposed end plates (24) in which the ends of two side-by-side drive shafts (26) are journalled. The ends of the drive shafts (26) to be connected to the power means have coupling plates (28). The drive shafts (26) each carry a plurality of cutters (30) and spacers (31). |
