PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat gasket being arranged between constituting components of an automobile, especially between an engine block and a cylinder head. SOLUTION: This flat gasket 100 has one or several layers having at least one positioning channel 116 for housing a positioning element 126, a clamping element 142 having at least one clamping region 140 is arranged, and after the clamping region is inserted into the positioning channel, the clamping region comes in contact with the positioning element so as to be held, and as a result, the flat gasket is held in the positioning element. The clamping layer has a recess 136 for housing the clamping element 142.
