PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas throttle valve useful for applying to a gas bearing used in a free piston Stirling cycle machine. SOLUTION: A piston 1 is inserted into a cylinder 2, a recessed part for gas bearing 11 is formed in the outer periphery of the piston, and an exhaust hole 12 is provided at the bottom part of the recessed part through the piston in radial direction. A gas bearing space V is formed between the outer peripheral surface of the piston 1 and the inner wall surface of the cylinder 2, and a porous band-shaped member 3 is installed on the inner wall of the piston 1 in the state of covering the inner end opening part of the exhaust hole 12. The band-shaped member 3 is held at a specified position by a ring-shaped backing plate spring 4, and the backing plate spring 4 provides a restricting force to the band-shaped member 3. The porous band-shaped material 3 as well as the backing plate spring 4 and the exhaust hole 12 provides a restriction.
