The invention relates to a drawer partition system (10) for retrofitting and flexibly dividing the inside of drawers into open-topped compartments by means of a partition element (20) which can be mounted between two opposite drawer walls. The length of the particular partition element (20) is less than the clearance between the inner surface of the drawers walls between which the partition element (20) is to be mounted. An expansion clamping element (26) is provided at at least one front-face end of the partition element (20). Said expansion clamping element is provided with a contact surface (34) which can lay against the drawer inner surface facing towards it and is displaceable in the direction of the longitudinal extension of the partition (20). The expansion clamping element can be resiliently clamped away from the front face of the partition (20), in the direction of the inner surface of the associated drawer wall.
