OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM

An optical recording medium which has a recording layer of phase change type containing Sb as a main component, wherein when the recording layer is crystallized, the crystallized region comprises a rhombohedral crystal consisting substantially of Sb and contains substantially no other crystalline phases than the rhombohedral crystal. The optical recording medium allows the enhancement of transfer rate together with good thermal stability of the recording layer.
