INK JET RECORDING APPARATUS, AND METHOD FOR DETECTING INK IN INK JET RECORDING HEAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording apparatus which can highly accurately detect the ink in an ink jet recording head in a considerably simple constitution and is widely applicable to various recording systems, and a method for detecting the ink in an ink jet recording head. SOLUTION: A control circuit 1000 supplies to recording elements of the recording head IJH driving pulses for ink detection of a level whereby the ink is not discharged, and detects the ink in the recording head IJH based on detection signals when the driving pulses for ink detection are detected via the ink in the recording head IJH.
