PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for providing a large quantity of status informa tion relatively simply at a low cost with a small quantity of information in order to solve the problem of a conventional single voice generator or an optical display for notifying the inner state of a printer to a user that a high cost is required for dealing with a large quantity of status information required for a current high image quality high function printer. SOLUTION: A light emitting means 4 having a mute circuit 6 and a selection circuit 5 are provided such that they can be connected selectively with a plurality of LED display means 1, 2 through a switch circuit 3 in order to deal with a large quantity of status information.
