SOLUTION: This method for producing the optically active hydroxyalkyl-α- aminocarboxylic acid and/or its salt, characterized by allowing the cells and/or treated product of a microorganism having an ability to stereoselectively convert the keto group of anα-ketocarboxylic acid into an amino group to act on theα-ketolactone.
