PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strainer with which adhered materials can be automatically scratched off without breaking a filter cylinder and to provide the filter cylinder for the same. SOLUTION: The strainer has a filter cylinder 4 which is constituted of a plurality of ring members 2 being piled up, each having the ring surface 2a on which plural grooves 3 are formed so that the outer peripheral surface 2b and the inner peripheral surface 2c can communicate mutually and a scratching means 5 capable of automatically scratching the adhered materials adhered to at least either one of the outer peripheral surface 2b or the inner peripheral surface 2c of the filter cylinder 4.
