PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring matter usable for cosmetics, having good covering power and good heat and photochemical stabilities, and hardly causing ooze, and further to provide a composition containing the coloring matter. SOLUTION: This composition for cosmetics contains a compound of formula (I) [wherein, R1 to R8 are each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydroxy group, an amino group, a nitro group, an alkylamido group, a ureido group, an alkylurethane group or a linear, branched or cyclic, saturated or unsaturated 1-36C hydrocarbon-based group which may have a hetero atom selected from O, N, S and Si, and may be substituted, or the like, or the neighboring two groups of the R1 to R8 in combination with a hydrocarbon-based chain form a saturated or unsaturated ring which may have one or more hetero atoms selected from O, N and S, inserted therein, and/or may be substituted with one or more substituents, and which has 5 to 6 carbon atoms as the whole] in a cosmetically acceptable medium.
