PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a game apparatus, memory card apparatus, and recording medium wherein adventure games of various kinds can be enjoyed between a hero character operated by a player and a selected competitor character. SOLUTION: By combining words a displayed on a display device, a story corresponding to the combination of words can be started, while by using the words collected by means of the memory card apparatus, the degree of good feeling between the hero character and the competitor character can be varied.
