PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent cutting chip from falling off on the top face of front/rear- directional guide rails 2 and 2 for guiding a main spindle 10 to the front/rear and to miniaturize the lateral width of a device top part. SOLUTION: This machining center is provided with a column 6 in such a state as moving to the front/rear via the guide rails 2 and 2 on the top face of a bed 1. This machining center is so constituted that front/rear-directional erect expansion cover walls 24 and 24 are extended frontward from the respective left/right parts of the left/right-directional erect coyer wall 13 formed on the front face of the column 6, the front edge 24a of the each erect expansion cover wall 24 is fixed to the same body part of the bed 1, the left/right positions of the bottom edge b of each erect expansion cover wall 24 are positioned adjacent to the inside of the front/rear-directional guide rails 2 and the top/ bottom positions of the bottom edge b are positioned lower than the top face of the front/rear-directional guide rail 2.
