PURPOSE: A novel metal composite that shows strong activity within ultraviolet spectrum and visible light spectrum as well is provided to effectively manufacture hydrogen and oxygen from water. CONSTITUTION: The novel metal composite represented by formula(I), x£A|y£B|z£C|-p£P|n£N| wherein £A| is £Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3| or £Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3|, £B|| is £PbTiO3|, £C| is £LiTaO3|, £P| is one element selected from the group consisting of Pt, Pd, Rh, Au and Ag, £N| is one oxide of metal selected from the group consisting of Ni, Co, Fe, Sr, Sc, Ru, Cu and Cd, the ranges of x, y, z, p and n are respectively as follows: 0.65<x<0.98, 0.01<y<0.34, 0.01<z<0.1, 0.01<p<5, 0.01<n<5. The manufacturing method of the novel metal composite comprises the steps of (i) mixing one constituent selected from either £Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3| or £Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3|, £PbTiO3|, and £LiTaO3| in the mole ratio of 0.65-0.98 : 0.01-0.34 : 0.01-0.1; (ii) adding 0.05-5wt.% of one element selected from the group consisting of Pt, Pd, Rh, Au and Ag and 0.05-5wt.% of one oxide of metal selected from the group consisting of Ni, Co, Fe, Sr, Sc, Ru, Cu and Cd; (iii) mixing composite obtained in a second step with an organic solvent, drying, calcining in the temperature range of 850 to 1000deg.C for 1-10hrs and then pulverizing; (iv) for crystallization, melting obtained composite powder under conditions of high temperature(1300-1500deg.C) and high pressure(20-200psi) and then slowly cooling to ambient temperature over 80-120hrs. |
