PURPOSE: A nonwoven fabric of chitosan fiber and a manufacturing method thereof are provided, which are characterized by making it possible to produce continuously the nonwoven fabric having excellent softness and being useful for medical supplies such as a covering material and a protecting material of a wound, clothes, shoes, a mat and so on. CONSTITUTION: On the nonwoven fabric of chitosan fiber, the fibers are bonded by melting the surface of the chitosan fibers. The nonwoven fabric is obtained by a process containing the steps of: steeping the fiber in a solvent dissolving chitosan, spraying the solvent to fiber, or coating the fiber with foam containing the solvent; (a) melting the surface of the fiber with the solvent; and then (b) bonding the fibers with adhesive force of the melted chitosan fiber. The solvent dissolving chitosan is acid aqueous solution. The acid aqueous solution is 0.1-5wt.% of aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid, formic acid, acetic acid, ascorbic acid, citric acid or lactic acid.
