Artificial joints wherein the mating surfaces are both non-metallic, preferably plastic, even more preferably polyethylene and even more preferably ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. Because neither of the bearing surfaces of the artificial joint are made of metal, there is a potential for greatly reduced wear, and consequently, a potential for reducing the number of joint replacement surgeries. |
