PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve edge-separation resistance of belt layers. SOLUTION: A pneumatic radial tire has at least two belt layers comprising an inner belt layer and an outer belt layer. The inner belt layer 7A has edge parts 7a at its both sides, each edge part 7a being provided with belt edge cover layer 8A covering the edge part 7a and its outer rim, and the outer belt layer 7B has at least edge parts 7b at its both rims, each edge part 7b being provided with belt cover layer 8B covering the edge part 7b. Here, reinforcement cords g are provided with an inclination angle of 5 deg. to 30 deg. against the tire circumference T and the inclination direction of reinforcement cords g is reverse to that of reinforcement cords f contained in the belt layers next to the reinforcement cords g.
