PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supporting structure for a rack shaft causing no deflection of a support yoke seat even in the case of application of a large load. SOLUTION: A recess part 8b is arranged on a slant face 8a of a support yoke 8, and a projection part 9b in the support yoke seat 9 is engaged in the recess part 8b. An end face 8b2 positioned on the slant side of the recess part 8b constitutes an edge E at right angles or at an acute angle to the slant face 8a.
