PURPOSE: To provide an antifouling film having strong adhesion to a substrate and high durability and excellent in wearability and transparency. CONSTITUTION: This method for producing an antifouling film comprises step of bringing a silica-based film-forming solution containing a silane-based chemisorptive substance and a first organic solvent into the surface of a substrate in a dried atmosphere and then evaporating the above first organic solvent, a step of forming a silica-based film containing hydroxyl group by bringing the above substrate into water, a step of forming a fluorine-containing film by bringing a solution for forming a fluorine- containing film containing the fluorine-containing silane-based chemical absorption substance and the second organic solvent into contact with the surface of the above substrate without carrying out burning of the above silica-based film and a burning step of burning the above silica-based film and the fluorine-containing film-forming substrate in an inert gas atmosphere. Thereby, an antifouling film having strong adhesion to the substrate and excellent in durability, abrasion resistance, transparency, etc., can be produced.
