PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a going up and down type lighting device which can be buried shallowly in a ceiling by thinning an electronic discharge lamp lighting device while maintaining a good weight balance there of. SOLUTION: The electronic discharge lamp lighting device 2 is provided between a lighting device 4 and an elevating part 1c of an electric elevating device 1. The lamp lighting device 2 comprises a rectangular case 21 consisting of at least a pair of heat radiating counter board 21a each having a heat radiating fin on their out side face, a printed circuit board 22 provided in the case 21 and a discharge lamp lighting circuit 23 packaged in the printed circuit board 22 in the way of a heat conductive mounting on the inner face of the heat radiating board 21a and another circuit parts 23b which are packaged mainly in the printed circuit board 22.
