PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power unit of a small size capable of inhibiting a rush current and to provide an electronic machine using the unit. SOLUTION: The unit comprises input terminals 13, 16, a first condenser 18 connected to the input terminals 13, 16 through a switch 14, a converter section 20 connected to the first condenser 18 and output terminals 15, 17 connected to the converter section 20. An FET 19 having a heat dissipation mechanism is interposed between the first condenser 18 and the input terminal 16. A control circuit, which detects a charging voltage of the first condenser 18 or a voltage varied by the charging voltage of the first condenser 18 and also varies a voltage applied to a control terminal of the FET 19 using the detected voltage, is connected to the control terminal.
