PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously and parallelly perform the processing of compression and expansion, etc., to improve the using efficiency of a data bus and to shorten the entire processing time by shortening the occupancy time of the data bus in the processing of image input using the data bus. SOLUTION: When an IIT 4 scans an original, line synchronizing signals are outputted synchronized with the original area of a main scanning direction and the using right of an image data bus 8 is allocated to the transfer of image data by the IIT 4 within the time during which the line synchronizing signals are outputted. Also, when the IIT 4 scans the outside of the original area and the line synchronizing signals are not outputted, the using right of the data bus is allocated to data processing means such as compression/expansion devices A and B. Thus, the image data bus 8 is used without suspending it, the IIT 4 and the compression/expansion devices A and B simultaneously and parallelly perform the processings and the entire processing time is shortened.
