PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method that can obtain an excellent color matching processing result by conducting color space compression processing in a color space in response to an object of color matching processing. SOLUTION: Input data depending on a color space of an input device are converted into data in a color space independently of a device on the basis of a view condition at an input side with a conversion LUT 11, a forward conversion section 12 converts the data into data in a color space by human perception, the converted data are subjected to color space compression, an inverse conversion section 15 converts the data subjected to color space compression into color space data independently of a device on the basis of an output view condition, and a conversion LUT 16 is used to convert the data into output data in the color space depending on an output device.
