PURPOSE: A control device for self-timer photographing of a camera and a method thereof are provided to automatically carry out compensation photographing operation with respect to a sudden invasion of an unintended subject, thereby improving the reliability of the camera. CONSTITUTION: A control device for self-timer photographing of a camera includes a release switch manipulated by a user for outputting a release 1-stage signal for initiating photographing and a release 2-stage signal for carrying out photographing, a self-photographing switch manipulated by the user for outputting a signal to initiating self-timing photographing, a distance measuring part for detecting a distance between the camera and a subject to output a distance signal, a self-timer to be driven for a set time according to an input control signal, and a control part for driving the distance measuring part to determine first and second distance measurement values before and after driving the self-timer when the output signal of the release switch is input according to an output signal of the self-photographing switch in a single self-photographing mode, comparing the first and second distance measurement values and carrying out a control operation for self-timer compensation photographing according to a difference between the first and second distance measurement values, wherein a method thereof includes the steps of setting the single self-photographing mode(S10), determining the first distance measurement value by carrying out a first distance measurement operation according to the release 1-stage signal(S20,S30), driving the self-timer according to the release 2-stage signal(S40), determining the second distance measurement value by carrying out a second distance measurement operation(S70), comparing the first and second distance measurement values(S80), and determining whether the single self-photographing operation or the self-photographing compensation operation is to be carried out according to the comparison result. |
