A commodity selling system comprises an information communication network (10) built using a power transmitting/distributing network, a portable terminal (22) provided to a customer of an electric power company, connected to the information communication network (10), adapted to display commodity information and send commodity order information along with customer information through the information communication network (10), and information center (30) connected to the information communication network (10), and adapted to receive the customer information and commodity order information from the portable terminal (22). A commodity distribution center (51) selectively picks up the commodity designated by the commodity order information sent form the information center (30), and a home delivery company (70) receives the commodity from the commodity distribution center (51) and delivers the commodity to the house of the purchaser designated by the customer information.
