<p>A mouthpiece (1) is provided having a quick connect coupler (3) to facilitate rapid replacement with breathing devices used by different individuals, such as in diver training classes and rental operations. In a preferred embodiment, the mouthpiece (1) has a coupler (3) including a pin (35) to engage and lock with a slot (73) in an opening (72) of the regulator housing (70). The mouthpiece can further include one-way inhalation and exhalation pathways to prevent pathogenic entities in the exhalation and saliva of the diver from contaminated the body of the regulator. An exhaust tee (8) is provided to direct bubbles away from the diver's line of vision. The regulator housing (70) can further include an independent exhaust valve opening (76). A seal (65) is provided to prevent the regulator body (70) from flooding through the exhaust valve opening (76) when the regulator is used with a mouthpiece (1) having its own exhalation pathway.</p> |
