The invention relates to a method and a device for controlling a wiper motor (30) in a motor vehicle. A rain detector (32) sends signals (S) to a control device and the wiper motor (30) is switched off when a first threshold is exceeded or cannot be met. The wiper motor (30) is switched on again if the signals (S) exceed/fall below a second threshold (S2) in order to remove residual moisture after a defined period of time (T1), during which the wiper motor (30) was switched off, has elapsed.
