The system has a coolant compressor (231) and an evaporator (230) in a housing (210) with an air passage feeding air into the vehicle interior. Air is cooled by evaporating coolant. A first timer measures a first predefined time after the compressor starts and a second timer measures the time after the compressor starts and the compressor operates until the tome measured by the second timer exceeded a second predefined time shorter than the first predefined time. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of regulating a compressor in a cooling system.
