Apparatus for assisting convenient mounting of tiles or other tesserae comprises a retiform structure (1) exhibiting a mesh wherein the size, shape, orientation and position of the mesh is complementary to the size, shape, orientation and position of each tessera or tile to be attached to the surface. The structure may be removed after the tiles are mounted, it may alternatively be left in position and covered by a sealing agent such as grout or it may be heat treated to form sealing means between the tiles. |
