PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a methyl methacrylate resin foam excellent in styrene resistance, an expandable methyl methacrylate resin particle as a starting material thereof, a methyl methacrylate resin particle and to provide a manufacturing method for the particle. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the methyl methacrylate resin particle comprises suspension polymerizing a monomer mixture containing methyl methacrylate as a main component and 3-20 wt.% of a carboxyl acid monomer selected from an unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer and an unsaturated carboxylic acid anhydride monomer in the presence of an aqueous medium and a dispersion stabilzer comprising a partially saponified polyvinyl acetate having a saponification degree of 75-95% and a viscosity of 20-110 mPa.s (4 wt.% aqueous solution, 20 deg.C) in an amount such that its concentration in the aqueous medium is 0.004-0.1 wt.%.
