PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a hydraulic pressure source driven vehicular hydraulic brake system by preventing water hammer noises and also preventing a brake operating feel from impairing when brake fluid is replenished from a replenishment passage. SOLUTION: At the initial stage of a brake operation wherein the hydraulic pressure differenceΔP between master cylinder hydraulic pressure PM and brake hydraulic pressure PW is small, the solenoid valve of the brake fluid replenishment passage is opened and a motor driving a pump is actuated by a 100% driving force W; the brake hydraulic pressure PW is raised, and when the hydraulic pressure differenceΔP between the brake hydraulic pressure and the master cylinder hydraulic pressure PW enters a predetermined range, the solenoid valve of the replenishment passage is closed to return to normal control by which the driving force W of the motor is controlled in accordance with the hydraulic pressure differenceΔP, whereby when the brake fluid is replenished from the replenishment passage, water hammer noises that may be caused by the brake fluid abruptly flowing into a wheel cylinder are prevented and impairing of the brake operating feel is also prevented.
