摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a propeller shaft reducing in manufacturing costs while maintaining its torsional strength to be equal to the high torsional strength of a FRP propeller shaft in conventional use, achieving a lighter weight of an automobile and permitting the position control of rupture, when caused. SOLUTION: A reinforced portion 10a having high tortional strength is provided for a tube 1 of the propeller shaft. Namely, the reinforced portion 10a having high torsional strength is provided on at least portion in the axial direction of the tube, rather than the torsional strength of the whole tube 1 is increased. Thus, the manufacturing cost is reduced while the torsional strength of the tube 1 is maintained, and a lighter weight of the automobile is achieved. On the other hand, the reinforced portion 10a provided means that a non- reinforced portion having low torsional strength is provided, and so buckling, if occurring in the tube 1, is controlled to occur in the non-reinforced portion.
