[Also in Division B8] A machine makes plastics bags with gusseted bottoms, lateral welds 4 uniting the entire edges of their sides, and oblique welds 5 joining each side to the bottom area facing it (see Division B8). In one embodiment, Fig. 10, the bags are made of two strips of thermoweldable material 12, 13, and a strip 14 of composite material thermoweldable on one surface folded into a V with this surface outwards. A punch 23 forms holes 15 in the doubled strip 14 before it is fed into rollers 18 between strips 12 and 13. Reciprocating electrodes 25 form oblique welds 5 and horizontal welds 7, and electrodes 26 form lateral welds 4 which unite strips 12, 13 through hole 15 near the bag base. Individual bags are severed from the strips by a cutter 27. |
