PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To flexibly cope with the change of a steering characteristic according to a travel state without complicating the system of a steering device for a vehicle. SOLUTION: When the vehicle is judged to be normally running, a first electromagnetic clutch 5 is set to a disengaged state, and a second electromagnetic clutch 7 is set to an engaged state. The present travel state, i.e., the steering ratio optimum to a vehicle speed V, is determined based on the relation between the vehicle speed V and the steering gear ratio. A first drive motor 11 generates steering force, and a second drive motor generates steering reaction to realize a target steering angle. |
