A lamp is mounted in the head of a sewing machine by means of a support to receive the lamp cap mounted for vertical displacement between a position in which the lamp is in the interior of the head and one in which it projects therefrom to permit of replacement. In the form shown, the lamp 1 is mounted in a socket 5 carried by a part 4 of a plate 3 which is bent over at right-angles to the plane of the plate. The main part of the plate 3 has two slots 9, 10 engaging pegs 11, 12 in a boss on the interior of the head 2 of the machine. A compression spring 21 housed in a hollow 20 in the head 2 bears at one end on the base 22 of the hollow and at the other on a projection on the plate 3 so as to hold this in its upper position. A part 24 is bent over at right-angles at the top of the plate 3 opposite an opening 25 in the head through which an implement, e.g. a screw driver, may be inserted to press the plate 3 into the lower position. In place of a sliding plate a pivoted device in the form of a deformable parallelogram may be used.</p> |
