PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which uniform cell thickness is obtained, the substrates are firmly adhered and sufficient shock resistance and good display quality can be obtained. SOLUTION: Electrodes 12 and an alignment controlling film 13 are formed on one surface of a substrate 11 and a wall type spacer 14 is formed on the alignment controlling film 13, while an electrode 22 and an alignment controlling film 23 are formed on one surface of a substrate 21 and a sealing agent 24 consisting of a UV-curing resin is applied on the edge art of the one surface of the substrate. A UV-curing resin 16 is applied on one face of a base body 15 such as a glass substrate and partly transferred as an adhesive 16a to the counter face 14a of the wall type spacer 14 to face the substrate 21. Then the substrates 11, 21 are laminated while allowing the adhesive 16 to be in contact with the alignment controlling film 23 on the substrate 21, and the adhesive 16a and sealing agent 24 are irradiated with UV rays so that the adhesive 16a and sealing agent 24 are cured at a time to adhere the substrates 11, 21.
